We sat down with another beautiful Wonderland Bride to get her love story.
Meet Megan and Jonathan, who were married on April 6th in Marathon, Florida.
Megan and Jon were introduced in the fall of 2014 at a Tough Mudder Race in Miami. About a year later, Megan was hired at Coral Springs/Parkland Fire Department along with Jon who had already been working there for 7 years. Instantly becoming friends and sharing the common love for the water, fishing, diving and FSU. Over the years they hung out often. Whether it was for a work event or just to grab some lunch and talk about an FSU game. In the summer of 2016, one evening at the Davie Ale House for dinner, she looked at Jon and said “I think I love you”, and his reply was “I think I do too”. Since then they’ve been inseparable. “Over the last 2 years we’ve helped each other realize that we’re exactly what we both needed”, Megan says.
They dated for about two years before Jon proposed. He told Megan they needed a date night, which of course meant she planned dinner at her favorite restaurant Casablanca. “After a lovely dinner, we went for a walk on the beach during sunset and he dropped to one knee (not sure I remember much of what was said) and asked me to marry him”, Megan recalls.
They were married at a house rented through VRBO in Marathon, Florida. Jon was born and raised in Marathon so they thought it would be nice to go back to his hometown and get married with all of their family and friends. With both being big water sports fans and love for the beach, they had a beach themed wedding which fit perfectly into the setting being on the water, on the bay side, with a beautiful sunset to top off the night. Megan walked down the isle to the cello and piano version of Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect”. If that wasn’t perfect enough, Jon’s brother sang and played the guitar for their wedding song – Brett Young “In case you didn’t know”.
WB: Why did you choose Wonderland Bridal for your dream dress?
MJ: I had already had one long day of dress shopping and bought a dress on a whim on the west coast while visiting family. My mother and MOH weren’t sold on my purchase so I made two more appointments. Wonderland bridal was my first stop and the first dress I tried on was the one!
WB: Share your experience about your time with Wonderland Bridal.
MJ: I had such a great experience at Wonderland Bridal. The girls were always very accommodating and so helpful. I had 5 of my 8 bridesmaids purchase their dresses from Wonderland Bridal as well. Alicyn was in constant email communication with me and super helpful.
WB: What was the best part of your wedding day?
MJ: Great question. There are so many parts to my day that were amazing. I think our first look moment was awesome. Jon was super emotional. I left him a card on the bed before I went to get ready the morning of and he read it and called me crying. He said, “I almost facetimed you and realized I couldn’t see you yet”. I felt so bad but ensured him it would be an amazing day. Dancing to our favorite song was pretty awesome too.
WB: Any advice to future couples currently planning a wedding?
MJ: Grooms, don’t fight the brides… you will thank them after its all over.
