Love Story: Dara and Jonathan

IMG_4158 (1)We sat down with another beautiful Wonderland bride to get her love story. Meet Dara & Jonathan, who were married November 4th, 2017.

When and how did you meet?

Jonathan and I met online in March of 2015. Instagram, to be exact. We were both into body building and competing and I was getting ready to do my first show and thought it would be a good idea to start following other competitors for motivation. I lived in Florida and Jonathan in Georgia. Jonathan is one of the body builders I started following and his page intrigued me. His physique, workout technique, diet and of course his good looks and personality drew me in. I started going through his page and liking pictures here and there. A couple days later, I noticed I caught his attention because he had liked a few of my pictures as well. I decided to be bold and DM him and let him know that I was getting ready to compete and if he would mind me asking him questions. He replied me back to me, gave me his number and told me that he wouldn’t mind. We talked through FaceTime for three months before we decided to set up a date to meet each other in person. We wanted to wait until after we both competed to travel. Jonathan decided that he would fly to me first and we established June 4th, 2015 as the date.  June 4th finally came and we finally were able to meet in person. It was love at first touch! We made it official that we were dating and everything was great. We both flew back and forth to visit one another until I decided to move to Georgia that following September.

How long did you date before he popped the question?

Jonathan and I dated for a year to the date before he popped the question.

How did he propose?

Being born and raised in South Florida, Jonathan knew I was a beach girl. So, he asked my Dad for my hand in marriage on February 15th, 2016 and once my Dad gave him his blessing, he told all of my family and close friends that he wanted it to be a surprise and have them all included. So, we came down to visit my family the weekend of June 4th, 2016. Like always, the beach was on our list of things to do. Saturday, June 4th, 2016 we went to thebeach and about an hour in, Jonathan starts confessing his love for me when I turn around and see all of my family and friends standing behind me on the sand. Jonathan asks me to stand up and in front of everyone, proposes to me. The entire beach erupts in cheers and whistling. I was more than happy!

Where were you married and how did you pick the place?

Jonathan and I got married at the Woodmont Country Club in Tamarac, FL. I decided to pick them as our venue because I wanted a Moroccan themed wedding, since I am Moroccan, and it just so happened that the chef at the venue is Moroccan and knew how to cook all the food I wanted and had all the Moroccan décor I envisioned. I knew that this was the place after meeting and speaking to him. Such a friendly, professional guy.

What theme and/or colors have you chosen for your wedding and why?

I had a Moroccan themed wedding and my colors were gold and plum because they are Moroccan colors.

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

We haven’t gone on our honeymoon yet but plan to go to either Cuba or Jamaica.

Why did you chose Wonderland Bridal for your dream dress?

I chose Wonderland Bridal because my Matron of Honor, purchased her wedding dress and bridal party dresses from Wonderland and I loved the selection they had to offer and of course the staff. I went to two other places before going to Wonderland and the reaction I got from my friends and family were priceless.

Share your experience about your time with Wonderland Bridal.

The girls there are so nice and helpful and they became my friends rather than just another sales lady trying to sell me something. They asked all the right questions in trying to help find my perfect dress.

What was the best part of your wedding day?

EVERYTHING…. But obviously marrying my best friend in front of everyone we love and care about.

Any advice to future couples currently planning a wedding?

Enjoy every minute of the wedding planning and don’t stress. Have fun. And make sure you have the right people around and helping you.

Capturing your Perfect Wedding Day Look

As any bride who has taken an iPhone photo of her wedding gown knows,  it can be difficult to miss some of the special details. How is it that photographers bring out all of these details? Lenses, yes. Lighting, definitely. All of that helps but what can you do to make an impact in your photos?

First and foremost, Helena Carmouze with Provoke Photography recommends, “Make sure that you have everything that you need for your detail photos in the room with you while you are getting ready: wedding dress, veil, shoes, rings (both wedding rings), etc. Having these things accessible allows the photographer to capture details in the most efficient way possible.”

When you wear a dress with sparkle it can make your gown almost glow. Certain stones and sequin will reflect light and send delicate flares from your gown. Many wedding gowns this season have a sequin underlay which adds more sparkle to an already blingy dress. If you are not a big fan of sparkle, there is a way to have a subtle hint without it feeling overwhelming. Clear sequin over appliques are a great addition to any dress.

This gown from Stella York has light sparkle on the appliques and straps but can be ordered with or without a sequin underlay. You can try this stunning gown on at Wonderland Bridal.

If you are completely against having any sparkle on your wedding gown you may want to think about your accessories. We see many brides who love studded earrings.  Simple studs look nice but in any photo that is not a close-up, you won’t even see your earrings if they are too small. We suggest a larger stud or a small dangle if you don’t want to wear anything too heavy. If you are open to a dangle earring but are not used to wearing anything so long, we suggest wearing them for a little while every day until you feel comfortable having them on or decide that you need to go with another style.

Make sure you get pictures of that fabulous train! A train doesn’t have to be long to create a dramatic photo. There are so many different and creative ways that a photographer can have you position your dress. The more details the better!

Our gorgeous bride Carly.   Photo Credit: Miguel Ocque Photography

Tip: Make sure that when a photographer fans out the train to take a photo, you move as little as possible. Some trains, especially those that are illusion are very difficult to position.  If you turn around or kick the dress, the picture will take longer to set up.

Don’t stop here! Ask your photographer what ideas they have for shooting your wedding day and what else you can do to make your photos extra special. After all, they will tell a story you will be able to look back on for years to come.

Love Story: Amanda & Roy

We sat down with another beautiful Wonderland bride to get her love story. Meet Amanda & Roy, who were married October 7th, 2017.

When and how did you meet?

I had joined the dating site Okcupid after moving to FL in April. Roy messaged me at the end of June and hooked me by using quotes from Seinfeld, my favorite show. After several weeks of talking online and through text, we met for our first date at Tap 42 in Ft. Lauderdale. Afterwards we took a walk along the river walk, where we had our first kiss.

How long did you date before he popped the question?

On our second date we talked about what we wanted out of life (marriage and family). During Christmas shopping at the mall he attempted to take me in to Kay’s jewelers to look at rings but I was too anxious so quickly walked out of the store. Between Christmas and April we talked about our future together. In April we looked at rings so he could see what I liked. In July he asked my dad’s permission. In Aug he flew to long island to a family friend’s jeweler store to design the ring. The center diamond that was used was taken out of my grandmother’s wedding band that I had received from my parents several yrs ago.

How did he propose?

We went to the Naples Zoo and he had planned to propose on a boat ride around the monkey exhibit, however the boat broke down while we were in line waiting. Fast thinking had him take me to the Naples beach afterward to see the sunset. This is where he proposed. He asked a woman on the beach to take our picture and whispered that he wanted a video because he was going to propose.

Where were you married and how did you pick the place?

Coconut Cove in Islamorada, Fl. We chose this because its an all inclusive intimate private wedding resort, 10 miles from where Roy grew up. They have a beach space, tiki hut style reception space, and rooms for guests to stay. Only one wedding is conducted each wedding so there is no competition with other weddings or wedding crashers.

What theme and/or colors have you chosen for your wedding and why?

Travel/beach theme because we have a passion for traveling and this was a destination wedding for family and friends traveling from MI and Chicago. The main color was tangerine, with the bridesmaids choosing shades of orange for their dresses.

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

Why did you chose Wonderland Bridal for your dream dress?

Reviews on Wedding Wire, The Knot, and Yelp all suggested a very private and intimate experience, with one on one contact with the stylist.

Share your experience about your time with Wonderland Bridal.

From the moment of walking through the door I knew I had made the right decision. I was welcomed with a smile and positive energy. I had my own dressing space with a welcome sign on the wall specialized with my name. Alicyn was accepting of what I wanted and didn’t want out of a dress. She knew exactly what would look great on me and I wasn’t disappointed. The 5th dress was THEE dress!

What was the best part of your wedding day?

Feeling overwhelmed with love for my husband, being surrounded by all my loved ones, and seeing everyones enjoyment at the reception.

Any advice to future couples currently planning a wedding?

Realize that even though you have planned every detail something may still go wrong. And even if it does that is okay because the true meaning of your day is simply about you and your future husband. Keep in mind the true meaning of your day – Love!

Love Story: Brenda & Thomas

We sat down with another beautiful Wonderland bride to get her love story. Meet Brenda & Thomas, who were married September 16h, 2017.

When and how did you meet?

We have actually known each other for over a decade but we did not strike a romantic relationship till the summer of 2012. We started talking via social media just as old friends catching up and slowly from there we started talking every day and our friendship grew stronger and eventually became romantic.

How long did you date before he popped the question? We were together almost three years when he got down on one knee.

How did he propose? He surprised me on a trip to NY (which was supposed to be gift for completing grad school). He set up a fake photoshoot in Central Park in front of the Bow Bridge. We were supposed to be looking for a restaurant that was far away from where we entered and once we found it there a was mysterious woman that we followed down to where the photographers were set up that were posing as photography students that were looking to take photos of a couple for an assignment. They walked us through the steps and once I turned around for the last shot, there he was down on one knee.

Where were you married and how did you pick the place?

We were married at the Colonnade Hotel in Coral Gables. We choose the venue because of the grand staircase, the ambiance of the Rotunda and the overall beauty of the hotel. I remember seeing photos of a wedding there almost ten years ago and I always wondered what it would be like to get married there and walk down the staircase to my husband.

What theme and/or colors have you chosen for your wedding and why?

The theme was regal elegance. The colors were gold, ivory and black as an accent color. I selected black to give the wedding a more polished look and to be as formal and black-tie as possible. I felt that the Rotunda was so grand that the theme needed to match the hotel.

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

We want to Las Vegas and stayed at a beautiful suite on the 22nd floor of the Cosmopolitan Hotel.

Why did you chose Wonderland Bridal for your dream dress?

I choose Wonderland Bridal for the reception dress and the bridesmaids’ dresses because the women of Wonderland Bridal were very warm, welcoming and always made me feel like I was shopping with old friends and so it was only natural to have them help me find something that would go well with the venue and theme.

Share your experience about your time with Wonderland Bridal.

My experience was nothing short of amazing. I have built a friendship with Alicyn that made me feel like I was at home. When it comes to trying on gowns there are several different styles, color ranges and price ranges to choose from within the store. Most important the women are very honest when it comes to having your best interest at heart.

What was the best part of your wedding day?

The best part of the day was taking part in all of the traditional reception activities like the first dance, throwing the bouquet and the removal of the garter.

Any advice to future couples currently planning a wedding?

My best advice would be to “take your time” and remember that on the day of to enjoy all the hard work because everyone is there to celebrate the joining of you and your significant other.

Love Story: Lonnika & Willie

IMG_4801We sat down with another beautiful Wonderland bride to get her love story. Meet Lonnika & Willie, who were married September 17th, 2017.

When and how did you meet?

Willie and I met at my old job back in 2010. I worked with his sister and He came by to visit her. We were introduced and initially, I was not interested in being anything more than friends with Willie however, our natural bond and growing friendship over the years, led to us falling in love with each other.

How long did you date before he popped the question?

We officially started dating March 20, 2015 after being friends since 2010. Willie proposed to me on June 26, 2016.

How did he propose?

Willie totally caught me off guard with his proposal. Being a naturally curious person, I would have figured out his plans if, He didn’t do it the way he did. He suggested that we invite our parents over for a cooked Sunday dinner (which we have done plenty times before). Being distracted with entertaining our parents in the comforts of our home, expecting a proposal was the last thing on my mind. While we were watching a movie, the TV went out, I was about to call our cable provider to complain and suddenly “Stone” by Alessia Cara started playing on the surround sound. Willie stepped out of our room and pulled me off the couch. He professed how much He loved me and then went down on one knee. I instantly broke down in tears, I was totally caught off guard and I can hear my Dad cheering us on. Through the tears, I said YES! It was a beautiful, intimate moment in front of our closest family members. I couldn’t have asked for a better proposal.

Where were you married and how did you pick the place?

We married at The Addison in Boca Raton. As soon as we stepped foot on the grounds we just knew, it was the perfect location for us. The historical mansion was a breath taker. I literally saw a vision of us dancing in the main hall, which is exactly where we end up having our reception at.

What theme and/or colors have you chosen for your wedding and why?

Our colors were forest green and sangria purple with hints of gold and ivory,  which complimented our Enchanted Forest theme.

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

We spent 5 days and 4 nights in Aruba, compliments of being the winners of David Tutera Your Wedding Experience Bridal Show.

Why did you chose Wonderland Bridal for your dream dress?

I always knew I wanted a unique dress. I remember seeing a wedding dress in a magazine and instantly fell in love with it. However, there were no details on the dress number just the brand of dress, this mystery “dream” dress. I happen to come across Wonderland Bridal through my Internet search. The name caught my attention as I though about my theme. I loved the décor, logo and modern boutique look. After looking through the website dress selection, I saw… the…. “dream” dress!!! I also saw that they offered a VIP experience where you literally had one on one service. I had a for sure feeling and booked the VIP appointment. I tried a few other beautiful dresses on before trying on the “dream” dress. Thankfully, It turned out to be the dress!

Share your experience about your time with Wonderland Bridal.

My experience was wonderful! I definitely recommend the VIP experience. I didn’t have to worry about interruptions and the mimosas and tea sandwiches greatly pleased my MOH and Grandmother who attended my appointment. Picking your dress is a really a big deal, so being able to focus and have that personal attention really made things easier.

What was the best part of your wedding day?

The best part of my day was seeing Willie’s reaction as my Father walked me down the aisle. We did not do a first look prior to our ceremony because we wanted the full effect as I walked down the aisle. Personally it amplified that moment for us and made it the highlight of the day for me.

Any advice to future couples currently planning a wedding?

Pre-plan, stick to your vision and stay in comfortable budget. The importance of pre planning was a huge stress savor for us. It is easy to get caught up in the fun of the  engagement period and then We paid for majority of our wedding out of our own pockets. We both come from huge families so we had the difficult choice of having the day of our dreams or including everyone who wanted to attend the wedding. Ultimately, we decided on keeping our guest list small so that we could have everything that we wanted on our wedding date.

Bridal Hair & Makeup Trends

Untitled design (1)

We’re always covering the latest and greatest bridal trends on the Wonderland blog, and today we’re covering bridal hair and makeup trends of 2017-2018! So, what are brides pinning and bringing to life this season in the beauty industry?

  1. Simplicity

Now more than ever, brides want to look less done up, and more like themselves. An “amped up version of themselves”, if you will. A classic bun, whether it be high up on your head or lower down on your head is what we’re hearing a lot more brides doing. Keep it simple and keep it classy.

  1. Baby’s Breath and Flower Embellishments

It’s sad for us to report that flower crowns are officially out. As much as we loved the flower crown trend over the summer, it’s not a trend that will be making an appearance in the upcoming bridal season. Replace flower crowns with baby’s breath or other flower embellishments instead.

  1.  Tousled Waves & Boho Braids

Just because flower crowns are out, doesn’t mean we can’t still get our boho on. So, what is a tousled wave? Think Gisele Bundchen and Blake Lively hair. Effortless looking waves that bring body and volume to a bride’s hair all day long. This is a great trend for brides. Bridesmaids traditionally love to throw a braid or two in their hair. Whether it be a fishtail braid, french braid or small braids throughout tousled hair, braids will never go out of style.

  1. Glow

Brides naturally glow on their wedding day, but we’re seeing more and more “dewy brides” thanks to the latest and greatest beauty hacks and trends emerging out there. Not only does a dewy look plump hydrated skin it’s also a marked sign of youth—something we all want.

  1. Highlighter

With every dewy bride comes a love for highlighting. Take those rose-flushed cheeks to the next level with a touch of highlighter to complete your bridal look. Highlighter brings an automatic “Instagram filter” to your face, and who doesn’t want that? Our favorite highlighter comes from Anastasia Beverly Hills

  1. Nude Lips

Spring/summer was all about bold pops of color, but as we enter into the fall/winter wedding season, we’re hearing more and more brides opting for a nude lip! Originally, a nude lip was applied to downplay bigger makeup moments like a smoky eye or lengthy lashes, but nude is taking center stage this season.

We cover a lot of topics on the Wonderland blog and today, we stepped a little bit out of our comfort zone, but not without some help from Gizella of GEMakeup Artistry and Hair. Our bridal stylists and brides have been working with Gizella for about 3 years now, and it’s safe to say she knows her stuff!

GEMakeup Artistry and Hair offers on site makeup/hair services for any special occasion, so we knew Gizella was just the person to interview. Here’s what she had to say about the latest and greatest makeup trends of the season.

“This past year has been all about the fresh, dewy skin and soft smoky eyes. The colors most commonly asked to be included in brides color palette was a light champagne for the lid and a burgundy hue for the crease. Most common photos shown were that of Blake Lively, Miranda Kerr and of course Carrie Underwood.” – Gizella, GEMakeup Artistry and Hair.

You think you know, but you have no idea. Keeping an open mind when dress shopping.

Untitled design (1)

Newly engaged ladies looking for their dream wedding dress, we are talking to you! What if we told you that the dream wedding dress you think you always dreamed of, just might not be the one? Would you call us crazy? Well…don’t! Like most brides, you’ve probably been pinning and saving wedding dresses long before you were engaged. Stop blushing, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to plan ahead.

Untitled design (2)

What if we told you that more often than not, we have have brides coming in with one vision and leaving with a completely different dress than they could have ever imagined? This happens at least twice a week. They come in wanting a mermaid fit because they see the gorgeous images online, but often become disappointed in the way it looks on them. Put your trust in us, your bridal stylists! We’re stylists that specialize in bridal styling and fittings. Our team has spent countless hours being trained by our gown designers to know what works and what won’t. That being said, the second you walk in our doors, we know exactly what to pull for you even if you’re completely against trying on a different silhouette than you came in wanting.

View More:

Just last week we had a bride come in that was dead set on a mermaid gown. There was no convincing her otherwise. With the help of her family and friends, we nearly forced her to try on a ball gown dress. Guess what happened after that? She had “the” moment. Her eyes filled with tears and she fell to the floor and knew she had found her dream wedding dress. The same thing happens when we have a bride that has always dreamed of having a Cinderella ball gown or an A-line dress because they don’t want to accentuate their curves, only to find that a fit-and-flare gown is exactly what they need!

View More:

Our point is, is put your trust in our stylists and think outside the box. What’s the worst that can happen? You try on a dress that isn’t for you and move on to the next one. Keep an open mind and the rest will work itself out naturally. We’re being completely honest with you because we want you to be fully prepared as you enter the world of wedding planning, and because this is the reality of shopping for a wedding dress.

Seeing yourself in a dress you never thought would work bring will bring true tears to your eyes and that is what we live for at Wonderland Bridal. We live for this. The “dream dress” moment NEVER gets old.

Love Story: Lizzie & Guillermo

Elizabeth & Guillermo-369

We sat down with another beautiful Wonderland bride to get her love story. Meet Lizzie Guillermo, who were married June 17th, 2017.

Elizabeth & Guillermo-354

When and how did you meet?

We met in law school, in February 2015. We were out one night with mutual friends, and within a few minutes of meeting each other, Guillermo held Lizzie’s hand. It was snowing and he claimed he didn’t want her to slip!

How long did you date before he popped the question?

We dated for one year before Guillermo popped the question.

How did he propose?

Guillermo took me to dinner at an Italian restaurant during Spring Break in Lake Worth, FL. At the end of dinner, he abruptly got up and I asked if he was going to the bathroom. Guillermo said yes, and a few minutes later, he arrived at the table with a waiter behind him. The waiter put a small chocolate cake on the table, and told me to eat the candy topping off the cake first, because it was an old Italian tradition. Being Italian, I protested that I had never heard of such a tradition. After a gentle kick from Guillermo under the table, I took the candy off of the cake and found a beautiful ring inside. Before I knew what was happening, Guillermo immediately bent down on one knee and popped the question.

Where were you married and how did you pick the place?

We were married at Gesu Church in Miami, FL. Guillermo is from Miami and he and I were both raised Catholic, so they picked the oldest Catholic Church in Miami.

What theme and/or colors have you chosen for your wedding and why?

We picked navy blue and light pink, because we wanted to incorporate both of our favorite colors.

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

We spent a week in Charleston, South Carolina, eating amazing Southern food, touring Plantations, and taking carriage rides.

Why did you chose Wonderland Bridal for your dream dress?

I initially chose Wonderland Bridal because of their magnificent Stella York collection, and then spoke to Patti on the phone. She was extremely helpful and knowledgeable both on the phone, and later in the store.

Share your experience about your time with Wonderland Bridal.

My experience with Wonderland Bridal was nothing short of fantastic. I had my dress made custom length, and Patti did an amazing job of making it just the right length. Every time I entered the store, everyone was so pleasant and welcoming! Patti was very organized and upfront with information relating to timing of my order, sizing, and pricing. I couldn’t have imagined a better experience!

What was the best part of your wedding day?

The best part of my wedding day was after we said our vows, our photographer asked us to meet her on Biscayne Blvd in our limo. We took a long romantic walk and got a few quite minutes to ourselves while she snapped some incredible photos!

Photos by Bells & Whitles Photography.

Any advice to future couples currently planning a wedding?

  1. Flowers: If you are wanting a specific kind (i.e. cascading flowers), make sure you are very clear with your florist about this!
  2. Cake: Eda’s Cakes in Miami did a wonderful job! The amaretto cake was delicious and looked so elegant!
  3. Photographer: Bells & Whitles Photography did an exceptional job – they are a fun, upbeat, and creative married couple!
  4. Make sure you bring a bridesmaid or a family member to learn how to bustle the dress!
  5. Be sure to take a minute in the middle of all the excitement to take in the moment and enjoy the occasion together – just the two of you!

Love Story: Erica & John

Erica Dietz print-434

We sat down with another beautiful Wonderland bride to get her love story. Meet Erica & John, who were married July 1st, 2017.

Erica Dietz print-147

When and how did you meet?

July of 2009 through mutual friends. We starting dating in January 2012.

How long did you date before he popped the question?

2 years and 10 months. we bought a house after dating a year and a half though.

How did he propose?

I had a birthday brunch with friends and family in Fort Lauderdale, he decided last minute to propose to me at the restaurant and just could not wait until our vacation to NYC.

Where were you married and how did you pick the place?

The Church by the Sea in downtown Fort Lauderdale, and our reception was at the Josephine Leiser Opera Center.. The Opera center was sold weeks before, so we were the last wedding or event to be held there. The church and venue allowed me to customize and plan every single detail the way that I wanted.

What theme and/or colors have you chosen for your wedding and why?

My colors were white and silver, I didn’t exactly have a theme, but I would call it classic and elegant. I had little diamonds and candles on every table with white and silver china place settings and white roses in silver vases.

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

Italy and Greece- Rome, Mykonos, and Athens.

Why did you chose Wonderland Bridal for your dream dress?

I wanted to find something unique and that could make a statement. I had a horrible experience at a different bridal store, and not only did I rush but settled on something that was bland and not me. Wonderland Bridal made me my dreams come true. I was showered with compliments about my dress during my entire reception.

Share your experience about your time with Wonderland Bridal.

I had less than 4 months until my wedding and was panicking, Alicyn got me an appointment right away, stayed in my budget, and was patient yet honest with me as I tried different dresses on. I picked out and ordered my dream dress during that very appointment.

What was the best part of your wedding day?

It is so difficult to pick a particular moment, but I think when my husband was reading his personally written vows to me, he literally was choked up and staring into my eyes.

Love Story: Lauren & Tommy

We sat down with another beautiful Wonderland bride to get her love story. Meet Lauren & Tommy, who were married July 30th, 2017.

When and how did you meet?

I was going to college in Fort Myers, FL when my Aunt who lived in Atlanta, GA asked me to come and visit during the summer of 2011. I decided it would be nice to get away while I was between classes, so I took a trip to Georgia without any clue that I would soon meet my husband! I told my Aunt that if I was going to stay for a few months, I would need to get connected with a church. That’s where I found 12Stone church in Lawrenceville, GA, and began attending on Tuesday’s college nights. I’ve noticed Tommy around, and remember thinking “He’s so cute! Maybe I’ll get to meet him one of these days!”. Well… One Tuesday night, after about a month of attending I was hanging with a small group of new friends that I had made. We were hanging by the bottom of the stair case at the front of the church, when Tommy made his way over. I noticed that he was talking to one of my new friends (but by the looks of it, someone he’s known for years), and kept looking my way. I’m not going to lie, I was getting giddy just thinking about finally meeting him! Next thing I know, he’s walking towards me, put’s his hand out to shake mine, and says “Hi my name is Tommy!”. I responded back, “Hi, my name is Lauren,” with which I am sure was the biggest grin ever! Little did I know, that was the beginning of our forever! Years later, Tommy admitted to me that the first thing he noticed was my back side. Then added, it was a bonus that my front side was just as nice, and that’s why he introduced himself. Yup, that’s my husband! (You might have guessed.. I had decided to stay in Georgia permanently). 🙂

How long did you date before he popped the question?

We dated for 3 1/2 years before he proposed, and we were engaged for a year!

How did he propose?

It was July 24, 2016, on Sunday morning. We were headed to church. The same church we met at 5 years prior. It also happened to by my moms birthday, who passed away back in 2013. Right after service, we went up to the pastor to say hi, and then made our way out. Keep in mind, this church is a huge church with hundreds of people.. As we were leaving, I noticed that it was extra crowded trying to get out. Tommy takes my hand and starts pushing through the crowd, walking faster and faster. I couldn’t figure out why. I thought maybe he just didn’t want to wait through it. As we make our way to the front of the church, all of a sudden I see a big opening in the crowd and as I look down, I notice rose petals on the floor where we met for the very first time. Immediately, I pulled back for a quick moment in shock, but slowly made my way to the spot where he would ask me to be his wife. I was shaking, and crying so much! He looked at me and said, “Are you ready?”, and I shook my head yes. He get’s down on one knee, and asks, “Will you Marry me?!”.. I said, “Of course I will!”. Later, I find out that he used my moms diamonds from her ring and Tennis bracelet to create my ring. I couldn’t have imagined a better, or more meaningful proposal!

Where were you married and how did you pick the place?

We got married at Castle McCulloch in Jamestown, North Carolina. Tommy use to work at Medieval Times as a knight, and he’s very much into the medieval era so I knew that we would want something royal like. I looked in Georgia first, but couldn’t find what we had in mind until we stumbled upon this venue. We instantly fell in love! It had a beautiful Castle, and a stunning ballroom with glass windows from the floor up that reminded me of the Beauty and the Beast ballroom (which is also my favorite movie). It was perfect for the both of us!

What theme and/or colors have you chosen for your wedding and why?

We had a medieval themed wedding with a touch of Beauty and the Beast. Our colors were burgundy, black and gold. Choosing our colors was probably the most difficult, but we decided that these colors worked together very well with our theme.

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

We went to St. Lucia!!! I miss it everyday! If you go, you must stay at the Grande St. Lucian. By far the best sandals property among the three that are on the island.

Why did you chose Wonderland Bridal for your dream dress?

My sisters live in Florida, so I thought it would be nice to go dress shopping with them while I was visiting.  I came down during Thanksgiving, and we were actually not suppose to start dress shopping until  we came back down for Christmas in December. However, my sisters convinced me to go to this one bridal shop that’s down the street from there house “just to get an idea”, but not to buy. So I caved.  After a few dresses, I was worried it might be more difficult then I thought it would be. Then came the 7th dress. Let me tell you, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room! It was THE dress! With the help of the staff I was able to find a dress I had no intentions of finding. I am so happy that I decided to go that day. It also helps that Wonderland Bridal was so accommodating, and knowledgeable! They also did an amazing job making me feel special, and like I was a one of a kind Bride!

What was the best part of your wedding day?

Seeing the man of my dreams at the end of the isle as those doors opened up. I’m about to cry just thinking about it!

Any advice to future couples currently planning a wedding?

I thought that after reading many blogs and advice columns, WeddingWire, The Knot, etc; that I would know better than to stress. That was the biggest advice given.. to be IN the moment! Learn to breathe, and so on.. I thought I prepared myself to make it the happiest non stressful day ever. I mean I had months to prepare right!? Wrong! I still freaked out, ran out of breath, cried my eyelashes off before I even walked down the isle, and completely forgot that I was the bride and NOT a wedding critique. So now that I am past the wedding, I will go on to say what so many others did.. Breathe! Be in the moment, and most importantly, remember… it’s not about what went wrong, but what went right! And that’s having the man of your dreams standing up there ready to marry YOU! Not the flowers on the isle that ended up being the wrong color.. Because I wasn’t strong enough to keep reminding myself of all those things the advice columns kept telling me to.. Going back, I would of told my bridal party to make sure I don’t freak out. Telling them to make sure I breathe.. That is what they are there for, and tell them now so that you have the support system when your big day finally gets here! 🙂

Wedding Vendor Tips!

Flowers: I’d recommend seeing a picture of EXACTLY what your bouquet(s) will look like before your wedding day, save it, and make them sign off on it completely understanding what is expected. I ordered my and told them greenery and pointed to a picture. I guess they figured any greenery will do, and gave me what looked like dead awful greenery for my bridesmaids bouquets.

Cake: Again, just be extremely detailed with what you are wanting. Don’t leave any details uncovered.

Catering: If your caterer is suppose to bring you food during cocktail hour while you are taking pictures.. Ask that they make sure the food is warm and not cold.

Entertainment: Look at their reviews! If it’s a large company that is sending out a a DJ, find out as much as you can on that person as an individual, aside from the company.

Invitations: Make sure to proof read, and shop around! There are many companies that sell invites, and you can find some great prices! Or look into making your own!

Wedding Planner: Did not have one, but wish I did looking back.

Hair & Makeup: Don’t be afraid to say what YOU want! If you are doing a trial, take advantage and figure out what it is that you want! Don’t leave until you are happy with it.

Videographer: Make sure that if they make your video, and your not happy with something, that they are accommodating by making the necessary changes.
