You know you found "the one" when...
Picture this: youre standing in front of a full length mirror in the wedding dress of your dreams surrounded by your mother, future mother-in-law and trusted bridesmaids, and no one is crying. There are smiles and the usual ohhs and awws, but no tears. Does this mean its not the one?! Its something you always envisioned yourself wearing on your wedding day, it fits you like a glove and youve never felt more beautiful, but...no one is crying. Does this mean its not the one? Of course not!
If your mom doesnt cry when youve found your wedding dress, it in no way means its not the one. Brides have a certain idea of how wedding related events are supposed to go based on misconceptions brought on by movies and reality shows. As you dive into wedding planning, you will soon realize what your reality is, one that doesnt always involve happy tears.
More often than not, we see the confusion on brides faces when their loved ones dont erupt in tears when they have found their dream wedding dress. So often, that we felt compelled to write a blog post about it. Remember, this is an overwhelming time not only for you, but your loved ones as well. If its their first time seeing you in a wedding dress, their reactions may be clouded by the amount of emotions they are feeling. If you have invited these particular loved ones along to help you find a wedding dress, chances are you value their opinion and know them very well. Look for other signs that might indicate you have found the one. Look for genuine facial expressions and look into their eyes. The eyes are key!
So, what are other signs can you look out for when youre looking for your dream dress? First and foremost, pay attention to how YOU feel about the dress. How do you feel in the dress? Can you envision yourself in this dress at your venue? Are you comfortable? Can you move around and dance the night away?
Make a list of the most important things you want in your wedding dress before coming into Wonderland Bridal so you have a clear understanding of what youre looking for.
That being said, we still encourage brides to keep an open mind and try on dresses they wouldnt necessarily gravitate toward, because those dresses usually end up being the one, believe it or not.
If youre going to take something away from this blog post, we want you to remember that this moment is about YOU. Chances are, you have waited your entire life for this moment, the moment you say yes to the dress. Try not to have unrealistic expectations about what other people are going to think or say, stay true to yourself!
