Jacob and I met July 4th Weekend in 2015 at the wedding of two of our best friends. I was a bridesmaid and Jacob was a groomsmen AND we were paired together to walk down the aisle. Nothing happened between us that weekend, but my friend Sarah aka the bride was plotting behind the scenes as she knew Jacob would be moving to Miami that fall where I was living at the time. Once Jacob was settled, he asked me to dinner and we have never spent more than a few days apart since then.
How long did you date before he popped the question?
We dated for about 5 months.
How did he propose?
On Friday after work, I came home to series of clues which led me to Jacob on Miami Beach with ring in hand and down on one knee. Of course, I said YES! We went to dinner afterwards and didnt tell anyone we were engaged until we finished dinner. We wanted those few moments of being the only two knowing that we were going to be together forever.
Where were you married and how did you pick the place?
We were married at the Curtiss Mansion in Miami Springs, FL. We knew we wanted a unique venue where we could have the ceremony and reception in the same place. The mansion offered us many different spaces that could use to complete the vision we had for our wedding day. It is a beautiful venue and the events coordinator, Sheri, was amazing to work with.
What theme and/or colors have you chosen for your wedding and why?
Our wedding was Navy, Gold, and Blush Pink. Navy is Jacobs favorite color and pink is mine. We also wanted a neutral color to tie it all together which is where the color Gold came in.
Where did you go for your honeymoon?
Before we got engaged, Jacob took a job in Washington, DC. So, in addition to getting married last fall, we also moved to another city and both started new jobs. Our dream honeymoon to Europe has not happened yet due to our move, but we have been taking mini-moons instead! We spent a long weekend in NYC right after the wedding and recently spent Presidents Day Weekend in Austin, Texas!
Why did you choose Wonderland Bridal for your dream dress?
My sister, Larissa, choose Wonderland Bridal for me as she had been in a wedding that used the shop. She raved about the personalized experience I would get and that their selection of dresses wouldnt be matched by any other store.
Share your experience about your time with Wonderland Bridal.
It. Was. AMAZING! First, we (myself, mom, and sisters) were the only people in the store for my appointment. I felt very relaxed and attended to while picking dresses. Patti and Alicyn were not only knowledgeable, but friendly, kind, and calming during my appointment. I felt as if they were two friends helping me pick the wedding dress of my dreams. We had many other appointments scheduled that day, but Wonderland was our first and last!
What was the best part of your wedding day?
Seeing my future husband waiting for me at the end of the aisle.
Any advice to future couples currently planning a wedding?
My advice would be to not get too caught up in the tiny details of the day. There are things that will go wrong. There are things that will turn out better than you expected. Just keep in mind throughout the process that at the end of the day the most important detail is that you are MARRIED to your best friend and as long as that happens, nothing else matters.
