Be honest with how you feel. Its painfully obvious when a brides squad isnt crazy about certain dresses. Sometimes, brides can get ahead of themselves and distracted by the moment on this day; keep her on track and feeling beautiful. That being said, she may appreciate your honesty, but tread lightly with how you portray your feelings toward certain dresses. Brides are very sensitive and impressionable on this day.
Don't forget the bubbly! If you know how your bride-to-be likes to celebrate with champagne, don't forget to bring some with you to celebrate.
Surprise the bride with a gift from the groom. Once the bride sets the date for her day of dress shopping in Wonderland, encourage the groom to send flowers or a personalized gift to the bride. Dont try on bridesmaid dresses while youre there for the bride. Another topic we have covered in previous posts, but we cant stress it enough. This day is about the bride and the bride only. Certain circumstances, such as time restraints call for combined appointments, but try to avoid it if you can!
One of the most important tasks of wedding dress shopping goes to the maid of honor. As the maid of honor, you should be prepared to shop for wedding dresses with the bride. It might take multiple trips for her to decide on her dream dress, but respect the time and help out as much as you can. I wouldnt be expected at all of the dress fittings until the final fitting. The final fitting is one of the most important appointments of an MOH because you learn how to help the bride in and out of her dress amidst the bustle of her wedding day.
