Stella York Designer Trunk Show 5/4/18-5/6/18

We at Wonderland Bridal couldn’t be more excited about our upcoming Stella York Designer Trunk Show. This will take place Friday, May 4, 2018 through Sunday, May 6, 2018. Here is everything you need to know!

What is a Designer Trunk Show?

For those gals who don’t know what a Bridal Designer Trunk Show is, here is the 411!

A Bridal Designer Trunk Show is a special event where a specific designer will showcase the newest styles from their most recent collection.

While we have already received our shipment of dresses from Stella York’s Spring 2018 Collection, a number of the wedding dresses that will be here are exclusive to the trunk show and will not be available to try on once the show ends.

All of the photos on this blog are just a few of the dresses that will be at our trunk show.

For a bride attending a trunk show they have an amazing opportunity to try on more wedding dresses from a beloved designer than the store already has in inventory. (That’s a lot since we have dedicated most of our showroom to this incredible wedding dress designer.) Every season bridal shops hand select their wedding dress samples based on what their brides have been asking for and the latest trends. During this designer trunk show, Stella York will expand this collection by adding several more gowns from this season. If you are looking for a specific Stella York wedding dress that no one seems to have, you can likely find it at our designer trunk show.

A designer trunk show is not a sale but you can find the one you love and still fit your budget since we are offering a promotion of 15% off your total purchase when you buy any regular price wedding dress from Stella York.

Are you still looking for a photographer or makeup artist? Look no further! You will also be able to connect with two of Wonderland Bridal’s Preferred Wedding Vendors; Photographer, Helena Carmouze of Provoke Photography and Makeup Artist, Gizella Manzano of G.E. Makeup Artistry. We have worked with them many times and are thrilled to introduce all of our brides to these wonderful ladies.

How do I prepare for a trunk show?

First, schedule your appointment as soon as possible! Wonderland Bridal runs by appointment only and we are booking up quickly. This is an event you definitely do not want to miss!

Make sure that the person whose opinion matters most to you, will be available or at least accessible via facetime  in case you fall in love with a wedding dress that is exclusive to the trunk show. We may be able to borrow it from the designer for a fee after the trunk show, but this is only after it has finished traveling to other shows across the country. That could take a couple of months. You will also want to make sure that the person who is paying for the dress will be with you in case you find the one. You don’t want to miss out on the trunk discounts which will only be available through Sunday, 5/6/18.

Combined with the excellent customer service that we are famous for, booking your appointment during our trunk show will give you the ultimate wedding dressshopping experience.

Schedule your appointment NOW! Follow us on our social media for more information!

I’m Going to be a Mom…and a Bridesmaid!

With Bridal season in full swing we are noticing a lot more pregnant bridesmaids than in recent years. Both being pregnant and a bridesmaid can complicate the bridesmaid dress buying process but Wonderland Bridal is here to help! There are plenty of ways to accommodate the mama-to-be. First thing’s first, celebrate the bundle of joy you are expecting or be excited about planning your growing family. Next, read below to see how you can be happy and still be there for your bride.

Shhh! Don’t Tell the Bride I’m Pregnant

We don’t like hearing this, ever, yet we hear it so often. Give the bride the chance to be happy for you. This is your life and it doesn’t stop because someone else is getting married. At the same time, you need to understand that this may be the most important day of the bride’s life and not sharing this information can really hurt your relationship with her. She is paying for things like flowers and gifts for the bridal party and if you don’t think you will be able to participate in the wedding, this should be communicated to the bride right away.

How do I choose a style?

Once you have shared your blessing with the bride, ask her about the aesthetic she is going for. Does she want everyone in the same bridesmaid dress or is everyone allowed to choose their own style. Your bride will want you to look just as beautiful as all of her other bridesmaids so no doubt she will choose something that will accommodate your growing belly.

When shopping for bridesmaid dresses ask your stylist for recommendations. Let them know how far along you will be or hope to be when the wedding arrives. If this something you want to keep private maybe ask the bride to go shopping with you separately so that you can ask your stylist all of the questions you have before returning with the rest of the bridesmaids.

How will I know what size to order?

There will be a lot of guessing between you and your stylist about which size you will need and how extensive alterations could be. If you are wearing a more fitted bridesmaid dress you will need to order a few sizes larger. Our Sorella Vita bridesmaid dresses take approximately 3-4 months to arrive. There is a rush option but  be aware there are usually costs associated with this. The best option is to order your bridesmaid dress with a rush since you will have a better idea of what your size will be closer to the wedding date. Also, there is no science to knowing what size you will be when the bridesmaid dress arrives so this is a decision you will need to make carefully.

1-5 Months Pregnant at the wedding

We recommend ordering 2-3 sizes up from your current measurements. Avoid a style with a thick waist band or fitted skirt. Sorella Vita has plenty of styles to choose from that are fitted on the top with a natural waistline and flowing skirt to flatter your silhouette.

6-8 Months Pregnant at the wedding

For a later term pregnancy we recommend that you consider a bridesmaid dress with a higher waistline and order 2-4 sizes up from your measurement the date the order is placed.

Post Pregnancy

If the wedding plans are starting way ahead of time but you will be late term by the time all of the bridesmaids are placing their order, we recommend having your measurements taken as soon as possible. Is this your first pregnancy? You know how quickly/slowly you will return to your regular size. If you are unsure we recommend going one size up just in case. You don’t need the added stress of not fitting into your bridesmaid dress because it is too small or trying to lose weight to fit into it.

Make your trip down the aisle as a bridesmaid be as stress free as possible. Enjoy your pregnancy and all of the fun that comes with being a bridesmaid. Make your appointment with us at Wonderland Bridal and let us help you find the right style for you!

Wedding Dress Shopping Etiquette

By now you have no doubt read plenty of blogs and received tons of advice on what to expect during your wedding gown shopping experience. There are a few details that get missed but can sometimes be equally as important. Our experts have a few pieces of wedding gown shopping etiquette that every bride should be sure to remember.

Who should I invite to the appointment?

Deciding who to invite to your appointment is probably the hardest part about wedding dress shopping. How do you know who to invite and who should stay at home? Well the first person you called after you got engaged should get an automatic invite. This will probably be the person or people who are closest to you. You will want to keep your entourage small. We recommend having no more than 5 people come to your appointments. Everyone wants to be able to boast that they were the one who picked out your wedding gown. Some opinions will be louder than others which may try to sway your decision or talk you out of a wedding dress you really love.

Do you have to bring your Mother-in-Law? If you have a good relationship and you want to bring her, you should. It could be a wonderful bonding experience. Bring positive people who just want you to be happy. Also, invite the person who is paying for your wedding dress. Nothing is worse than having your own, “Say Yes to the Dress” moment and the person paying for it is not there to seal the deal.

Who pays for my dress?

Traditionally the family of the bride is responsible for the cost of the wedding dress. Today, most brides are paying for it themselves. If someone else has offered to pay for it, make sure you know up front how much they are prepared to spend and what they are paying for so that if you do go over budget you have a plan to cover the balance.

Why do I have to schedule an appointment? Can’t I just go into a store and look around?

Searching for a wedding gown requires some planning. You should be doing as much research as you can about the bridal shops you are making appointments with. The best place to purchase your wedding gown is a shop that has excellent customer service. You want to make sure that the bridal shop is prepared and excited to see you. If you come in without an appointment, it is not guaranteed that you will be able to try on wedding dresses or that there will even be a fitting area available for you.

If you just want to browse for now, keep in mind that the bridal stylists may be busy with customers and not available to answer all of your questions. Besides, you can’t really judge a wedding dress on a hanger. You have to see how it will look on your body and this is something your bridal stylist can recommend during your scheduled appointment.

Why do most bridal stores not allow young children?

Bridal shops can be a dangerous place for unsupervised children; there are pins that can poke, small beads than can pose as a choking hazard, and glass or heavy furniture that can fall on children and injure them. You may bring someone to help you watch them but this appointment time should be all about you and everyone should be giving you their undivided attention.

What kind of undergarments should I wear to my appointment?

This is probably the question most asked by brides scheduling a wedding gown appointment for the first time. First and foremost, understand that there will be someone helping you change into wedding dresses. Your Bridal Stylist wants you to feel comfortable but here are some tips on what undergarments to wear.

A bra is not usually necessary since most wedding dresses are fully structured or have an illusion (see through) back. If you would feel more comfortable with a bra we recommend a strapless one.

Make sure that any panties you wear are a light color and simple pattern so you don’t see them through the wedding dress or have distracting panty lines.

If you want to try on wedding gowns with shape wear like Spanx be sure that you understand that this could fight the natural structure of the wedding dress you love and could make the interior of it feel very warm. Our advice is to try wedding gowns with and with out the extra help.  You may decide that you don’t need it at all.
